Maybe you heard about the Merger between Oppo and OnePlus. But, many of you thinking that why a brand like OnePlus needs to collab with Oppo. OnePlus has everything and makes some of the best phones in the market. Also, OnePlus is the first brand that starts to think about the feedback of users and start working on it have its brand value. Then, why OnePlus have to collab with Oppo. Both brands are different, they have their different market, different users and different value also.
But, I don't think that you know that all the phones for OnePlus are manufactured by Oppo. Also, OnePlus and Oppo have almost the same Research and development team.
So let's get started.
Before getting into this that why one plus needs to collab with Oppo. Let's start with the starting of OnePlus.
Starting of Oneplus.
OnePlus was started on 16 December 2013. OnePlus is the first brand that introduced the term Flagship Killer. Before them only there is Flagship phones, low range phones and Midrange phones. At that time Indian market is at boom especially the midrange market. Micro max is the top brand at that time.
Then Pete Lau the wise president of Oppo and Carl pie the International marketing manager of Oppo they started the discussion that in the midrange segment if you have a phone with good hardware then the phone doesn't have good software or if you have good software you don't have good hardware. To target, this gets started the new Brand Which they named OnePlus the flagship killer.
They started to target the tech enthusiast who knows about the phones and tech. What is the ram, what is Processor and all that? They target the peoples who know clearly what is a mobile device. Then the First OnePlus phone which the OnePlus 1 launched in India on 23 April 2014. This phone doesn't come with Oxygen OS at that time OnePlus don't have their UI. It comes with cyanogen OS. But, some phones of Micromax have Cyanogen OS so, Micromax makes pressure on the Cyanogen. Then cyanogen refused OnePlus for their OS then OnePlus decided to make their OS the Oxygen OS. With this OS they created the history this OS is one of the best OS for android phones and oxygen OS is one of the main reason for the success of OnePlus.
Then OnePlus regularly increase their graph and makes the most awesome phones in that particular price range. If you see the sales stats of OnePlus it has excellent results. Then why OnePlus needs to collab with Oppo?.
- OnePlus phones Price rising.
If you see the price of the latest phones of OnePlus increases every year. From the Flagship killer, OnePlus is a flagship brand in 2020. And this is not the aim of Carl pie. Carl Pie aims to provide the best phone under the mid-range segment. But, OnePlus had lost its title of flagship killer which's why Carl Pie the Co-Founder of OnePlus left the company in October 2020. Although there are many rumours that why Carl Pie left the company?.
One of them is that Carl Pie wants a separate Research and Development team. Because from the starting Oppo and OnePlus have the same R&D team. All the Research and manufacturing for OnePlus is done Oppo. Carl pie wants a different team because A person who makes the phone for the Oppo and Also the phone for the OnePlus may have the same specs.
So, if you want to know better it is like that Oppo have their building for everything and OnePlus have a small room in that building for Everything.
- oppo and oneplus similar phones
If you want proof that the OnePlus and Oppo have the same R&D team you can see some phones of both the brands which have almost the same specs and design.Firstly OnePlus 1 and Oppo find 7A both phones have almost the same design, specs, and everything is almost the same. Also, the Nord N100 and Oppo A53 are very similar phones. If you remove the branding of Nord From N100 you can't even tell the difference between both the phones. And, there are many phones which are almost the same in many things.
Not, even the designs of phones OnePlus also copied many Technologies of Oppo. Like the Super VOOC charger of Oppo is the only rebranded charger. OnePlus just copied it and named it as Dash charger.
oppo and oneplus merge. Now, you are questioning if everything is going fine then why OnePlus have to Collab with Oppo? As if you see the original strategy of OnePlus to see their phones is that they mostly target tech lovers and we all know that not too many peoples around us are interested in tech. Many people don't even know about the Snapdragon. So, this strategy is not good for OnePlus as a business. So, if one plus can achieve broader users after facing some criticism then why they don't do it. Because at the end every brand needs profit.

Conclusion.OnePlus is with Oppo since it started now they just officially announced it. With this move, they haven't change anything. People will think that OnePlus is copying Oppo phones which will impact the brand value of the OnePlus but this will not result in any performance of the phones. No software update delay, no Change in their UI and nothing. Also, Oneplus will spend their money on Marketing which will ultimately result in the rise of the price of OnePlus phones. But we all know that this is not the original oneplus which we know earlier. Statement By Pete Lau “As for the OnePlus brand — we will continue to operate independently, focused on providing you with the best possible products and experience as we have always done,” Lau said in the post titled "A New Journey for OnePlus."
The 46-year-old executive also stated that OnePlus would continue to launch its products, hold events, and engage with its community directly using the channels as before. All this means that there would not be any significant changes for the OnePlus users — at least in the short run.
